Tango Show - Tango "on air"

Tango "On Air"

Idea and concept : Sebastian Arce
Choreography : Sebastian Arce and Mariana Montes
Musical direction: Ivan Talanin
Scenographic design: Sebastian Arce

Sebastian Arce & Mariana Montes

are recognized worldwide tango dancers and teachers, being the only one couple in the world to master all styles of the dance in Tango Argentino including Canyengue, Milonguero, Salon, Fantasy, Nuevo and stage tango.

A group of young friends meet in what could be a park in Buenos Aires, a pub in London, or une terrace in Paris. The place itself is secondary, since we know youngsters mind only the company. One of them brings a boombox, so to put the group at ease, with music. While going through the dial of the radio, different moods drive the crowd crazy, until... the radio freezes in a tango radio station (to their regret of course) and they are stuck in time and mood, "tonight in our radio! Tango history 1...2...3... go!"
At the beginning Only one of the girls is willing to listen, then all the girls, then the group. While listening the young imagination of the crowd can't help imagining the different eras of Tango.
The question is, will they fall in love with tango?

Their methodology also focuses on awakening senses before applying them to the dance (understanding of relationship stimuli ? answer, physical and theoretical/sensorial and auditive), and have as a final goal the self expression, the research of your own dance from the needs created by the student's own tango path, paying much attention to the non-movement, the introspection of the dance, the contemplation.

DJ: Igor - Kiev/Moscow

  • Igor El Espejero has played music at milongas and festivals in the USA, Ireland, UK, Ukraine and Buenos Aires, while keeping close eye on the various milongas and events in Toronto, the city of his residence. His musical style is heavily influenced, on one hand, by the abundant energy of the Italian tango DJs, and, on the other, by the deep, sensual musical selection of the younger generation of Buenos Aires musicalizadors. Igor also has deeply immersed himself into the study of the technical aspects of the sound. His articles and webinars on the various technical aspects of tango DJing are well known around the world.  Igor says: "I play only traditional tango music, drawn from the core of the Golden Age repertoire, with occasional sparkles of Guardia Vieja, post-50s, and some XXI century orquestas. I believe that it is the dance floor that dictates the choices to the DJ, not other way around. Thus, I neither program my music in advance of the event, nor attempt to “educate”, “challenge” or “surprise” the dancers. My only goal is to deliver the best danceable music and abundant energy to the floor, from the first to the last tanda, without a single exception…"
